Greetings,
Up to now, Framework has given official support for linux through the official releases of Ubuntu and Fedora. Both of these distributions have been based on the Gnome desktop meaning that Gnome has been the ‘standard’ desktop environment for Framework laptops running linux up to now.
However, in the coming release of Fedora 42, it is planned for KDE Plasma to ship in its own Workstation edition for Fedora alongside the Gnome Workstation edition making KDE Plasma just as official for Fedora as Gnome has been. This is opposed to Plasma only being available on Fedora and Ubuntu through spins/flavors or manual installation as it has been up to now.
Now, obviously, Framework users have always been able to install Plasma at will on their devices, but this was never the default for the officially supported distros, so official guides were not provided which assumed KDE Plasma as the desktop environment in use. However, it does make me curious. Will Framework provide official support and guides for the KDE Plasma Workstation edition of KDE the same way they have for Fedora Gnome Workstation in the past?
