hello! first of all, i dont really know which of these cpus i should get. I usually run 1 vm (not always), a couple docker containers and do web dev. currently i can do fine with my current laptop that has ryzen 9 4900hs.
i would like to get a cpu that’s better than this (chances are all of them are better) and also i want my battery to REALLY LAST at least (a real amount of) 6-8 hrs in light use like web browsing or watching some videos.
i would also like to know if this laptop tends to overheat or if it is noisy. i d prefer if it was more silent.
also, regarding the cpu, i ll use the laptop mainly unplugged.
although, my main concern would be overheating / noise / battery
currently im inclined to purchase the one with ai ryzen 7 350
FW laptops are only so-so in the battery department; after a bit of tuning I can achieve somewhere around 6-7 hours on mine with the 61wh battery and auto-cpufreq. Mind that if you’re watching videos online that number will decrease a good bit.
I’m using the 7840U board and it did overheat at first, so I repasted with PTM 7950 which tamed the heat a good bit. Newer boards should come with PTM 7950 phase change material stock. Still, when putting more demand on the CPU the fan will rev up. It’s silent on low-moderate workflows but a little unpredictable in terms of when the fan will spin up, so I can’t call it truly quiet.

A fan working at low RPM (~2500) isn’t really audible. The “a little unpredictable” is due to a bug on the fan controller.
