Seems like the laptop powers the USB ports all the time (I can charge mobile with it too), and with USB-A or HDMI expansions connected, the idle power draw seems significant.

I’ll leave this unlabeled for now as we might get solutions for Windows and Linux. However, just note that any solution is going to be OS specific. A general solution will not really work for all OSes one might want to use.

It seems like this is very much OS-dependent. In most Linux based-OS with new kernels, there is no way to force this from user-space:
It seems like something the driver/device needs to support natively, which is weird.
