USB device disconnects while moving the laptop without any expansion card or USB device plugged

Framework Laptop 13 - 11th gen Intel

While reviewing my system logs, I noticed several recurring log entries about USB devices plugging/unplugging that did not make any sense to me, because during that time I did not plug any device.

I tried to troubleshoot and ended up removing all expansion cards, and even in this case, I see these logs been printed when I hold my laptop with only one hand, or when i lift it from the table. This makes me think about some USB related hardware semi-broken, that disconnects when the laptop is moved.

What can I do?

Thanks in advance

Edit: While writing this post, and having all USB expansion cards removed, I noticed that everything started running extremely slow, much like if the CPU has been throttled.

Having read this and having actually had the exact same problem in the past (while my CPU was under heavy load for a long period of time), I recognized the same behaviour of “slowiness”.

But this time, my pc was almost idle, and except removing the expansion cards and have firefox open I did not do anything special… So I rebooted and took a full boot journal log while the machine was still running throttled.

I’m writing this update and everything is still throttled (still no usb card plugged in)… This whole story gets worse every second…

This post is old, I know, but because nobody answered and I just discovered some new evidence, I think it is worth resurrecting it.

All problems with USB start when the machine heats up.

I remember all times I had problems the machine was hot, but this time I was able to clearly correlate the cause.

I started my laptop completely cold at room temperature. Fortunately, my system is very lightweight (Arch Linux, i3wm), so with only Firefox open it did not raise CPU usage above 0-1%.

I used the laptop for almost 50 minutes, while checking the logs, and there were no signs of USB failures.

Then I started an online CPU stress test, which raised CPU up to 100%.

As soon as the laptop started getting hot, after 1-2 minutes of stress testing, I started seeing USB failures.

As soon as I stopped the test and the laptop had enough time to cool down, the errors stopped as well.

Unfortunately, I am not able to attach a full journal log, because the forum prevents me to link to the paste bin website. I was even just mailed:
