12v Power Input Question

Resurrecting this to keep a single topic in a single post when possible.

I have a similar situation (lots of 12vdc power) and after some considerable search, found two likely 12vdc USB PD supplies.

- Powerwerx 100w (established DC power equipment seller)

- USB-Gear aka CoolGear 140w (product appears quality and I’ve heard of them before)

Both offer one single usb-c port, IIRC.

At the moment the CoolGear item may be in short supply, but look on both their sites if interested. I have received but not implemented the CoolGear supply. It’s in a small metal box (2”x3”x1” ?) with a two-pin input adapter plug that has screw-down wire clamps to accept stripped wire leads. I would highly recommend crimping ferrules on the supply wires for inserting into the adapter, to allow the best contact to handle (relatively) large current. Looks industrial, not for any elegant designer desks. Just what I want, if it performs as listed.

The Powerwerx is panel mount w/a large round (3” ?) escutcheon w/what looks like 1/4” spade quick-connects on the back. Have not received one yet, no further info. They are likely reselling it from somebody else, but I haven’t seen it any where and they are a reputable supplier of DC connectors and parts.

I spent half a day raking sites for 100w+ adapters that looked credible; there were a couple others offering 65w that may have been of decent quality. But at 100+ watts I did not find any other options I wanted to check out. The Amazon confetti and party favors I tend to dismiss out of hand, having repeated bad experiences that cost far more in grief than any possible pennies saved. Also, my policy is to buy from the maker’s site if possible. Grainger, Mouser, Digikey, Waytek, McMaster (and probably a couple others) may have options but I quit after finding two likely prospects. TBD

FWIW. Cheers, Rufus
