Yesterday, I assembled my Framework 13 Ryzen AI 7 350 and installed two 32 GB modules, but the laptop only recognises 24 GB twice. I can see this both in the BIOS and in Linux.
What could be the reason for this?
I installed the 64 GB kit from Crucial (CT2K32G56C46S5) that is recommended by multiple Framework 13 users. I have updated the BIOS to the latest version and checked that the modules are correctly seated on the board, but nothing has changed. I also tested to install only one module - only 24 GB are recognised.
I’d really appreciate some help.
Where did you purchase the RAM from?
What’s the part number returned from “sudo dmidecode --type 17”?

Precisely! The last thing to confirm is that you are SURE you have 32gb sticks.

Looks like I really got modules with only 24 GB. Part number says CT24 instead of CT32. WTF?
I ordered the RAM on Amazon. Also the stickers on the modules say 32 GB.
Get in touch with Amazon. They should fix it quick, but yeah, seems like someone tried pulling one over on you. Good that you caught it!
