Can anyone share the make and model of the 16GB SO-DIMM modules included with the i7 DIY builds?
Mine came with Crucial CT16G4SFRA32A, Notebook DDR4-3200 SODIMM 1.2V CL22
Same here as @A_L 2x16G (although mine is the i5 DIY).
FWIW, when I tried powering on the first time with both 16G modules plugged in I got a blank screen. I was able to boot when I tried powering back on with just one 16G module plugged into Channel 0.
Hi @Atul_Ingle , that is definitely not expected. Could you check if the LEDs on the sides of the system blink an error when booting with both sticks of RAM? My Framework Laptop is not powering on
Note that on the first boot after changing the memory configuration, it will take an extended amount of time while doing memory training. The length of time for that training also increases the more memory there is.
I’m not able to reproduce this issue any more. After successfully booting with one stick of RAM, I reinserted the second stick and was able to boot with both. Perhaps the first time I tried with both sticks I hadn’t inserted one of them properly? I wasn’t keeping track of the LED flashing codes, but I’ll let you know if I see this issue again.
@nrp Is there any way you can mention the memory training somewhere in the DIY setup docs? I wasn’t paying close attention and accidentally ordered 2x 32GB sticks instead of 2x 16GB sticks off NewEgg and it took about a minute and a half for the screen to even light up on first boot. I was worried I’d plugged something in wrong and fried the whole thing and knowing it would take a while to check the entire memory space would have set my mind at ease.
Yea, good suggestion. I just added it to the Memory Replacement Guide, but I’ll add it to the DIY Edition Quick Start Guide too.
