I was able to make a person I know, buy a framework. I will assemble it and set it up for her.
Now I have an idea and what to check if it is an OK thing to do.
My plan is to buy a DIY framework without RAM, SSD and Windows. Then I buy these things much cheaper from a local store or online and afterward I assemble it all and sell it in a local online-marketplace (Austria).
I couldn’t find an answer in the knowledge base, on the community page or Reddit.
There is no plan in making a relevant profit out of it. I just want to gain experience in building frameworks laptops.
If it is OK, how is warranty handled. Should the end user buy from the framework website and I do the rest, or does the warranty transfer?
I know I am not allowed to sell it to other countries.
Hi and welcome to the forum.
Any warranty would be registered to the buyer a subsequent owner would have to go through them I imagine.
Also the warranty only covers what is purchased not to any DIY setup you make, and even if you were to undo the DIY, support may wonder if your DIY caused the issue etc.
As for when and where to sell that’s totally up to you with the conditions you agree to on purchase - have you read them ?
Technically under your sale you should provide the warranty.
In Austria the seller is liable for warranty claims of the customer, not the manufacturer.
Gewährleistung und Garantie - was ist der Unterschied? I anwaltfinden.at
EN:
“In the case of private sales (contracts between consumers), warranty claims can be shortened or even completely excluded by mutual agreement.”
DE:
“Bei Privatverkäufen (Verträge unter Verbraucherinnen/Verbrauchern) können Gewährleistungsansprüche einvernehmlich verkürzt oder sogar gänzlich ausgeschlossen werden.”
Since I am not a company, I can recall any warranty claims.
If I really try to sell frameworks, I will make it so the end-user has to buy the parts, or I will manage any warranty claims for them.
There is not so much building to experience.
