It seems like my new FW13 is all too happy to hit 75 degrees CPU temp when doing even light workloads such as watching a YouTube video (in Firefox), causing a ton of fan noise even as KDE System Monitor shows CPU utilization barely reaching 20% peak, more with closer to 10% average.
I feel like this can’t be expected behavior. I’ve tried repasting the heatsink but haven’t gotten any improvement.
What is your room temp?
At 25 degree room temp watching a 4K video in Firefox, my cpu (7640u) reaches 65 degrees. s-tui shows package power around 15W. Fan is either off or inaudible.
For me the fans tend to not spin up until cpu reaches 90+ degrees… I’m on bios 3.05, ubuntu 24.
I got about 9W on s-tui(CPU power, actual power from the battery is higher) watching 4K. CPU utilization vs temperature depends on type of workload. On gaming where iGPU alongside CPU being used the fan goes to full at 72C. On light workload the fan might start only when CPU reaches 90C. The system monitor on KDE is a bit inefficient as itself consumes 3W CPU power
