Honestly, if you use a laptop almost exclusively for content consumption and entertainment, the 3:2 aspect ratio is probably not for you. The borders aren’t bad for true 16:9 content but if you get into some of the wider film / movie aspect ratios it can get obtrusive.
Speaking as someone typing this from a different 3:2 aspect laptop, who watches a good amount of video on it, I personally find it’s actually strongly preferable to have room above/below 16:9 video that’s using the the entire screen width. I prefer having access to taskbar and tabs without having to add bars on the sides of video content which I would find far more obtrusive personally.
