Just got my Framework Laptop 12 a few days ago and overall it’s been great snappy performance, super lightweight, and I love the upgrade options.
But I noticed there’s a bit of flex when I type near the center of the keyboard, especially around the spacebar area. It’s not a huge deal, but it’s enough that I can feel it when typing faster. Is this normal for this model or should I check the screws or the mounting?
The Framework Laptop 12 only launched for pre-order two days ago. It won’t start shipping until June-July. I imagine you have either a 13 or 16 laptop. I’ve never noticed any meaningful keyboard flex on my 13, but I tend to be pretty light-fingered when typing. Some of the early 16" laptops had a bit more keyboard flex, but FW implemented some rubber pads to support the underside of the keyboard to reduce flex.
Can you confirm which model you have? A short video of the amount of flex would also help folks determine if the amount of flex you have is abnormal, though I know it’s not always easy to get or post a video demonstration.
Ah, you’re totally right my mistake on the model name! I actually have the Framework Laptop 13 (12th Gen), not the new 12. Thanks for catching that. The flex isn’t extreme, but it’s noticeable when I type more firmly around the center. I’ll see if I can record a quick video to show what I mean. Thanks Again!
