I ran fwupdmgr, and a BIOS update showed up. The only thing in the firmware appeared to be a microsoft trusted platform list, so after waiting a week or so I applied it. Since then I have had three total freezes (no log messages, no response from KB/monitor, while still drawing power) on the linux box, with no logs and no outputs. I’m hoping that this is some strange new behavior - I saw the other freeze report, but I don’t use wireless on this box. I am re-enabling the boot watchdog and disabling c-states completely, but I wanted to see if anyone else had seen this. I do use a USB4 extension with a NVIDIA external card, and run AI models locally. I am hoping this is not a hardware failure at this point.
Just a update - doing a deep spelunking into the kernel to make sure that everything is persisting on crash, so I can figure out what is going on. Found a big regression with multichannel SMB in the current 7.1 kernel.
