Audio hiss and popping when 3.5mm used - win 11

Hi,

I am using the latest mobo bios and the windows 11 beta driver pack.

When I plug in a 3.5mm headset I get the following intermittent issue

3.5 mill plugged in > popping sound from headset > constant hiss sound > sometime later > popping sound > hiss goes away - rinse and repeate

looked at issues at win 11 / dirver level and am on latest updates there
all audio devices and setting seem to be in order and no output is detected from the audio mixer or on the advanced sound setting.

when other audio is played the hissing sound is still there in the background, have rules out the headset being an issue as they work fine with other win 10 laptops and android phones

edit -

persists through restart and when shutting down as windows closes the audio pops and hissing stops

on start up as windows loads there is a pop and hissing starts

Hi Daniel and welcome to the forum.
First I wonder what Batch No. you have, mine is Batch 8.

I have the poping sound soon after plugging in but not during play and I haven’t noticed any ‘hiss’ but then I’m old(74) and maybe it’s a higher frequency than I can hear.

@feesh

Well I’d like to try that but where do I locate the power save mode. Is that Power mode > Best power efficiency

Thanks

UPDATE:

Just changed the above setting to Balanced and I haven’t heard a pop.

So if that’s it then thanks again :slight_smile:
