Does my batch status count if I just got the 370 mainboard? I already have a 16 since ‘24.. Just swapping the cpu/mainboard..

I think it should count! From what I remember from the videos I think everything else is the same. Did they say that the gsync for the monitor wouldn’t ship in the first batches? The power supply is being upgraded as well.

I do not recall this being said.. but don’t take my word as gospel. From what I understand, as long as you have the Gen2 panel it should have gsync certification. So I would check your order specification and see if it is listed. Wouldn’t make sense to me to send FW16 “Gen2” without the updated panel. I will still be using my Gen1 panel as they are literally the same panel with the only exception being gsync firmware, I just won’t have gsync personally. I am using an external monitor and not going to be running the dgpu 5070 so really no need for me.

Do we have any word on roughly when batch 1 will be shipping? Something in the back of my head says “November” but do we know if that’s accurate, whether it’ll be early or late Nov, etc.?

Last I heard from the announcement was simply “November”.. Who knows if early or late. Wouldn’t be surprised if there are shipping delays though.

My 16 is not until Batch 4 (Ideally hoping it is Shipped around Early-Mid December before the Holidays), so i feel like i might be a little early to set up a Guild Post for Batch 4 Specifically. But ill post my Set Up anyways:

Ryzen AI 9 HX 370
32GB of RAM
2TB of Storage
Got the Power Adapter, Black Bezel, RGB US Keyboard and the Macropad

(Side Note: Really wish there was a RGB Number Pad to match the Keyboard, otherwise i would have gotten that, But this is not a feature request post. Or maybe combining the Keyboard and Number Pad into 1 RGB Module mayhaps? :winking_face_with_tongue:)

I did also think about getting the Graphics Module (But i might hold off on that because i am spending a Pretty Penny on this already. But I am not ruling out the idea of getting that module later down the line if need be)

Sorry the off topic (i’m in the Batch 1 of the 5070 tho).

Might be possibile to “hack in” the new firmware to the old panel? Or is it hardcoded in a chip on the panel/mobo?

Nirav said it was “baked in hardware” in the line of the panel. So not getting around that one. If you want Gsync, gotta get the new panel.

Ian waiting too for batch 1. Looking at current batches soled out: 2 in November and 4 of 6 in December.

Can we conclude first batch is half November?

Also the compatibility memory/ ssd on

What DRAM/memory is supported by Framework Laptop 16? (AMD Ryzen™ AI 300 Series)

is still empty, so I prepare for a long wait…

I’m in batch 1  my config:

  • Ryzen AI 9 HX 370
  • DDR5-5600 96GB (2 × 48GB) — ordered on Amazon
  • 1TB 2280 and 1TB 2230 — also ordered on Amazon
  • 240W Power Adapter
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 and expansion bay shell
  • Black bezel
  • US English (2nd gen) + Blank ANSI keyboard
  • Numpad input module
  • Two black spacers
  • 2 × USB-C (aluminum)
  • 2 × USB-A
  • 1 × HDMI
  • 2 × DisplayPort
  • Ethernet
  • SD
  • Audio

Where can we find batch 1 updates?

Sent from my soon to be replaced framework 13.

Still waiting for that shipping email unfortunately..

Regrettably I’ve canceled my order, mainly an issue with cost and unexpected bills hitting me at a bad time. I’ve ordered the older generation FW16 as a replacement (and saved $1000 by doing so). I don’t expect I’ll upgrade that one with the HX 300 series, but perhaps the generation afterward.

Sounds like a pretty sensible move. Surprised the difference is that big. At least you have the option of upgrades in the future and a smaller hit to the wallet when you do.

The cost is actually pretty steep sadly. I have the gen1 fw16 with the 7940hs and all I am swapping is my mainboard with a 370. Over $1,000 just for that alone. Keeping everything else the same.

Yeah. Cost was definitely something I was considering as well. Nearly $3,000 for what I ended up configuring (especially since its a big jump from my current laptop in the Surface Laptop 4 Which was around $1,300 when I got that back in 2021, Around $1,555 in today’s money).

One thing I had considered was getting the RAM and Storage out of Somewhere like a Micro-Center, but I ultimately decided to just get everything I would have needed

Getting your own ram and ssd etc has its advantages when it comes to price. Framework is a bit more expensive on all theirs. But I did the same when I first configured mine too because I didn’t want to run into the problems some people did with compatibility issues depending on what they bought. I spent the money for peace of mind. Now I am just hoping the BIOS for this mainboard have really been looked at compared to all the things that the 7X40 series has been experiencing. Just commented on another thread earlier that since 3.05 on the FW16, each came with it’s own quirks and people are upset that we’ve literally gone from 3.05, to 3.06, 3.07 and now 4.01 with similar issues carrying over to each one. Bugs still being worked out and some folks are dropping FW overall.

Got an email about the reviews releasing and confirming shipping next week.
