Batch 8 Guild

Mine turned up today! Unfortunately I’m away from home though so won’t be able to set it up until the end of the week :smiling_face_with_tear:

Mine arrived today (UK).

Liking it, with some caveats:

  1. No trackpad throughout Windows 11 setup - Easily solved.
  2. That’s a chunky driver pack to have to install.
  3. The ‘wobbly’ screen is probably more noticeable when you can see your reflection in it because the movement is exaggerated.
  4. Mine had some dusty hand / fingerprints on the chassis when it arrived.
  5. I haven’t had too much time with it (because I’m working), but secure boot / changing boot order seems annoying.

And finally…

I again did the thing during Windows setup that lets OneDrive sync the ‘desktop’ folder, which just puts junk icons on my desktop. I’m going to reinstall again later!

Claims there’s been an issue at their sortation facility in Hinckley. Sortation sounds an awful lot like a made up word and Hinckley sounds an awful lot like a made up place.

got mine, but it does not boot nor does the charging LED come on. I’ll follow the guides, but I wanted to ask:

Have other people confirmed the BIOS version is 3.07?

I took a look at my batch one unit, the curve radius is the same on all four expansion slots.

Maybe some random change in manufacturing.

@KingKaz
Checked on mine and they all have the more squared appearance. Is it just the one or is the same on both sides?

It’s just that one. Must be a defect. I have already sent an email off to support, let’s see what they have to say.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Sortation is the process of sorting parcels…
And Hinckley is somewhere near Bristol in the Westcountry. It’s also one of DPD’s main hubs, and the location of their head office.

Shame there’s a holdup for you though :frowning: but equally I don’t think mine has left Taiwan yet!

As a follow up from my issue, the full mainboard reset seemed to help Fully Resetting the Mainboard State - Framework Guides

Mine are all fully squared-

Mine turned up this morning. All put together and running. Now tuning it all up. The only mod I made at this point was a thermal pad on the SSD. But the ram is running at 3200 and no major issues so far. Construction is fine too. The only thing I would like to change later on would be to swap the glossy panel for a matte one.

I have to say…the speakers sound fine for a laptop.

A happy bunny…so far! :grinning:

Try using a dummy email account like mail@mail.com. It will go “oh dear…use a local account!”

I’m not a Windos guy anymore for ages due to that kind of garbage from MS.
But as far is I saw from several random sources, that’s a new “feature” of Windows and you simply cannot use a local account anymore.

Disappointing to hear about the keyboard. Persevere with the webform - reCAPTCHA is a ridiculously unreliable experience :frowning: It took me three attempts last time. If it helps, I find it’s more reliable on my iPhone than my PC!

Regards Windows, I thought all Windows Home installations had that requirement for ages now, but if you Google a bit there are various ways to get around it…Or just make a dummy Microsoft account. Personally I just use my Microsoft account anyway but then I don’t really understand what people are so worried about!

Welp. Delivery of my laptop failed because they couldn’t get access to my building. Sigh. Never mind.

Mine arrived a few hours ago, just finished setting it up.

Dual boot windows 10 and ubuntu 20.04

I think i’m going to miss the full number-pad from my current laptop but i’ll soon get over it.

i love the build quality of the framework

Turns out these dodgy rounded corners mean I can’t get my type c expansion card out. All the others I can get out just fine. Not that one.

I have mine, Windows is installed, and I am posting this from my new Framework!
Only issue with it was one of the RAM clips was slightly bent down, so it took some convinving to get the clip above the RAM stick

Tomorrow is Chinese new year.
It’s also happening in Singapore, I hope our laptops won’t be stuck there for 2 weeks :s
