I can’t buy a Framework Laptop 13 replacement battery since June 25, 2025. I need one because my current battery is swollen. I travel for work and I’m stuck because I can’t use the laptop safely. This feels at odds with Framework’s core promise of repairability.
It’s been almost two months with no stock. Is there an ETA for restock or an alternative channel to purchase? If swollen-battery cases can be prioritized, please let me know the process. I usually recommend Framework to everyone, but it’s hard to do that because a basic wear item like a battery isn’t obtainable.
I am not even looking for the 61W, just ANY battery.
That is surprising, and annoying… but it may be because they’re prepping a new kind of battery? I’d forgive a lot of delay if the batteries that they finally come out with have significantly higher capacities.
File a ticket with support. They have access to parts that are not available for purchase. This is a known issue with keeping batteries at 100% charge all the time.
In the future. Set the charge level to 80%. There seriously is not gaining much time on the last 20%.
The battery even though it is swollen still has safeguards in place. Just don’t charge it to 100%. I would safely charge it to 60% and go about my day. Or limit the charge to 30% to be extra cautious. It is not likely to spontaneously combust.
There are far worse electronics with questionable quality out in public everyday.
If the firmware has not been updated, consider doing that as well. There have been a number of things fixed including an auto limiting feature if it is consistently left on charge to 100%.
I already open two tickets with them, both times they said to remove the battery and wait to become available.
I currently traveling without battery… quite a pain..
I had it limit to 80% most of it’s time life, i usually only set it to 100% when I will be traveling for work, most of the times battery isn’t that great so 20% makes a huge difference.
Either way, just want to bring some light into the subject for new people thinking of buying. Framework might not be good if you need a reliable product for work.
Hey Henrique! So sorry to hear that you’re having some battery troubles. While we work behind the scenes to open more stock, please refrain from using the battery if you believe it is swollen or has vented. Batteries vent as a safety measure and using it beyond that measure is not advisable.
I’ve also been waiting for months, and have a swollen dangerous battery, that has been removed. I’ve also opened two support requests, and had no response, and I also tried to buy a battery when I got the “in stock” notification, but … by the time I got to the page it was out of stock again. I’ve basically got a very expensive paperweight because I can’t travel with it. I’ve even considered buying an external power pack that can power it, but I’ve finally gone back to my old Thinkpad laptop, whilst I’m waiting, the battery in which isn’t about to explode.
Hey Adam! Please send me a modmail with the email address you used to contact support as well as the country you reside. I’ll see what info I can find for you.
