"Battery is empty" message/popup in Gnome on Fedora

  • Distro: Fedora
  • Release: 43
  • Kernel: 6.19.7-200.fc43.x86_64
  • BIOS version: 03.05
  • Framework Laptop 13 model: AMD Ryzen™ AI 300 Series

I am occasionally getting the “Battery is empty” popup message in Gnome.

Perhaps what is meant is not the main battery – I’m running off the battery, not wall power, right now and it seems fine (74% left).

Questions:

  • Any else getting this?
  • Anyone know why?
  • Should I be worried?
    • If so, what should I do?
    • If not, how can I eliminate this message?

Hi John! Latest kernel is 6.19.8* I would recommend running sudo dnf upgrade –-refresh.

Are you using a 60W+ capable charger? Is it plugged directly into a wall outlet?

If this issue is still occurring after these checks, try re-seating the battery cable to the motherboard.

Keeping my fingers crossed it’s just one of these simple fixes!
