Beyond economic repair

Hi,

There are situations where a repair shop will say something is beyond economic repair. This is where the repair labour at say $150 an hours exceeds the cost of the mainboard being repaired so it’s cheaper to buy a new board.
This results in the old board being thrown in a skip, or used as a donor board.
Some people are happy to spend excessive personnal time repairing such devices just due to the pleasure they get from knowing there is one less item of e-waste.

So, I am wondering what happens to all the broken FW mainboards?

The same thing that happens to any other broken electronic that’s not repaired

yup. they get sent to me and I eat them!!!
