Bezel accident placed in wrong and now ruined it

Hello there,

I honestly don’t know what to do since I was installing the bezel and now ruined it, idk if I should send it back for repairs or I’ve destroyed something that was gonna be for my niece as a Christmas present

Suggestion not recommendation. The photo suggests that the bezel is torn but still forms a continuous frame around the screen and it is structurally still a single piece. If this assumption is incorrect YMMV.

Order a replacement. It might arrive before you need to gift wrap your niece’s present.

While waiting for the order to arrive, purchase a small roll of what I know as “filament tape” of an appropriate width. A single layer of such tape is thin with impressive structural integrity.

Apply some sacrificial light adhesive tape (I’d cut pieces of painter’s masking tape) to the exterior surface to bring the torn pieces together. Work from where the tear starts to the outer edge of the bezel. Take your time and re-work any application that causes the torn edges to over- or under-lap. Inspect the interior side regularly as you work.

Once you’ve closed up the tear with sacrificial tape, apply a continuous strip of filament tape across the full width of the interior surface of the bezel. Start at the undamaged edge. Be careful with your alignment. Apply the tape strip gradually, smoothing any trapped air out as you go.

Fit the bezel to the laptop. Trim the filament tape as necessary. A scalpel might be a useful tool. If used deftly it won’t cut the bezel material.

Once the bezel has been refitted, remove the sacrificial tape.
