Boot Problem on initial startup

I got my Framework today and was really excited. I installed everything (a joy), plugged it in and turned it on. I got an error message that said, “Default Boot Device Missing or Boot Failed.” So I have three questions…

  1. Why am I getting this message?
  2. What should I do about it?
  3. What should I see when I boot it up before I install Linux?

Your getting this error message because the SSD doesn’t have an operating system installed, it’s completely normal. If you have a bootable USB already, simply insert it and boot from that to install Linux

Or Windows. If you bought a license with your purchase you can find the key and a driver’s download package on the Framework software section. (Your purchase email should detail this as well.)
