Hi all,
Had a bit of a huge clusterfunk last night after switching from my old Dell PC to my 11th gen Framework board placed inside a Cooler Master case. Tried to restore my data to my Linux Mint distro using Timeshift but clearly had no idea what I was doing as I absolutely borked the Windows partition, Linux partition AND Grub. Long story short I had to do a lot of fixes that didn’t take and ultimately flashed a functional OS and bootloader from an old SSD I had laying around.
So the thing is I’d like to just start fresh with a new copy of Linux Mint on an otherwise unoccupied SSD (I haven’t used Windows in a while and think I can get by without), but I can’t get the system to boot from the flash drive I plug in. No amount of pressing F12 or any other key combo seems to be able to get the BIOS to recognize the Mint drive and boot into it.
On top of that, I find most of the F keys don’t work when I’m in UEFI (so I have to go all the way over to the right and hit ‘save changes’ rather than hit F10). Is that because I’m using a wireless keyboard?
