Crashed fw13 AMD

Hi there,

I’ve a crashed fw13 AMD with no standalone mode enabled, the monitor is ko, keyboard are dead but battery and motherboard seems ok, I’ve print a case and mount it inside but when I power it up the fan spin, the LEDs after a while start to make rainbow (and after a while they go off) if I put the AC adapter the LEDs go in orange (charger mode).

There are something I can do to enable standalone mode and keep using it?

You can keep it in the chassis with the battery plugged in, then plug in an external keyboard and monitor.

Make sure to disconnect the internal display as the BIOS will only show up on whichever display it detects first (usually the internal display so disconnect it). To get into the BIOS, on startup click the F2 key. Standalone mode should be in one of the submenus.

I’ve tried that. The monitor (with USB-C to HDMI external adapter) doesn’t show anything. And the external Keyboard with FW USB-A port do not power the leds on.

Any additional idea?

Take a video of the flashing lights. There should be a pattern that indicates what might be wrong.
Post a link to the video here.

Have you disconnected the internal display cable? If you have and it still doesn’t work, you should file a support ticket.

Before you do though, I would recommend verifying whether the motherboard actually works or not. It is possible that the mainboard is dead even though it looks fine.

@James3 here the video you asked for, sorry for bad english

@Elliot_Lu I try to understand that before contact support center

From the video:

6-red - touchpad ← OK, it is clear you have the touchpad disconnected so fine.
All other green, so RAM OK etc.
BIOS CODE: 0xC5
We don’t actually know what 0xC5 BIOS code means, but a few people have seen that.

Some others have had some success with removing one of the RAM chips, so maybe one of the RAM sockets is bad.

So, maybe try getting it to boot with just one RAM chip inserted.

I’ve tried now, but with no luck. Maybe it’s definitely broken…

Contact FW support, depending on which country you purchased the FW, you might have 1, 2 or 3 years support.
