Davinci Resolve Video Processing is Broken [Tried Multiple Distros]

Which Linux distro are you using? - Nixos

(before I tried Kubuntu and OpenSUSE and they both were broken in the same way)

Which release version? - 25.11

Which kernel are you using? - Latest

Which BIOS version are you using?

I don’t know, the un-updated one.

Which Framework Laptop 16 model are you using? (AMD Ryzen™ 7040 Series)

AMD Ryzen 7040 with RX 7700 S upgrade

Basically the furthest I ever got on any installation on my laptop to using Davinci Resolve was having it say it sees my GPU and that it’s not unsupported, but it never was able to actually do any video processing on either my integrated or dedicated GPU.

Issue I made with more details (I’m not familiar with forums, sorry… I hope I’m doing this correctly >_<)

Have you looked into davincibox?

Davincibox never fixed it, I tried it once on openSUSE Tumbleweed. The people on there told me to run it natively on SUSE.

Resolve is one of those programs that seems to require different incantations for different people. I have been running it on Bluefin almost flawlessly, but Bluefin’s upgrade from Fedora 42 to 43 did break Resolve for me. I was able to get back up and running by building Davincibox for Fedora 43 manually (bug reported upstream).

I hope you find your incantation to get Resolve to work.
