Hey, my Framework 16 main board stopped posting after troubleshooting my gigabyte rtx 3070 egpu (done through USB 4 to nvme –> nvme to pcie, quadro k4000, gt 710, r5 240 all worked perfectly using this setup) I changed some USB 4 settings after being suggested to in hopes it would work, i stupidly changed them all at the same time and my laptop never posted again. Anyone who can help? I have a listing for the board in the marketplace, some extra stuff is there but please ask, happy to respond even if it’s a detail mentioned in the marketplace listing….thanks
have you tried to reset BIOS?
To do a mainboard reset, Kindly follow these steps:
-
Plug in the system to AC.
-
Remove the Input Cover.
-
Press the chassis open switch in the lower part of the RAM slot (encircled in yellow), you must press it slowly, so press for 2 seconds. Release, wait for the red blink on the Mainboard LEDs. Repeat.

Hey, thanks for your respone, I was guided to do that when it initially happened and by framework support. When it initially happened, it took a few attempts, and I don’t think I got the flashing lights, but it was successful (in my bios, i had my power led set to low, after a couple of reboots it was significantly brighter)
When I tried it with Framework support, the red light never flashed, stayed constant (charging)
I can try it again though and report back
please try disconnect battery. I has similar one time. there was led on, but I caould not power off or power on. only disconnecting battery helped me. that’s why I suggested mainboard reset nut disconnecting battery and then trying to reset may help.

Alright, I’ll try disconnecting the battery and then trying the mainboard reset without reinstalling it. Hopefully it should work
It didn’t seem to work, no red lights flashed after removing battery, plugging in usb c pd, and attempting to main board reset. firing up the machine results in same symptoms
Update, reseated the ram again, THANK YOU!! My laptop is back and you just saved me $1050 (i was gonna get a ryzen ai 9 board lol, although if i wasn’t, you saved me $650 for direct replacement. may God bless you kind stranger)
I’m glad that it worked for you. it looks like disconnecting battery + reseating RAM helped you
