Does anybody knows if wifi card AX201NGW is compatible with my AMD Framework 13?

Does anybody knows if wifi card AX201NGW is compatible with my AMD Framework 13?
I have that wifi card from an old laptop and I was wondering if anyone has experience with that one

Which Linux distro are you using?
Linux mint

Which release version? 22
(if rolling release without a release version, skip this question)

Which kernel are you using?
6.8.0

Which BIOS version are you using?
03.05

Which Framework Laptop 13 model are you using? (AMD Ryzen™ AI 300 Series, AMD Ryzen™ 7040 Series, Intel® Core™ Ultra Series 1, 13th Gen Intel® Core™ , 12th Gen Intel® Core™, 11th Gen Intel® Core™)
7040

No, that card is not compatible. The AX201 uses CNVio2 which is Intel-specific and proprietary. They moved some of the hardware off the wifi card and onto CPU/chipset in order to make their wifi cards cheaper. Personally I think its dumb since wifi cards are already quite cheap, so I always avoid CNVio2 cards like the plague. The version of that card without Intel’s proprietary bullshit is the AX200.

thank you so much, I didn’t know there were intel specific wifi cards.

The AX201 was used in prebuilt 11th gen systems. DIY systems got the AX210. I had an AX201 originally, but I broke one of the antenna connectors when I replaced the top cover with the CNC version so I had to buy an AX210 to replace it; I’m still using that with my new HX 370 mainboard.

so you mean that it works with an AMD processor?

AX201 will not work. AX210 works (I’m using it instead of a stock RZ616 card that comes with AMD 7040 variant of Framework 13).
