Is there a way I can donate money to the Framework Community via a credit card?
Welcome to the community.
Are you just wanting to support Framework and their mission? They aren’t currently a publicly held company or traded on the open market. There currently is not a way to invest in the company. If you really want to support the company and what they do, you could simply buy something from them. That would be the only way to directly support them right now that I am aware of.
Hi Big T,
No I do not want to invest in Framework. I only want to donate small amounts of money - like $5 to $10 a month.
I absolutely love Framework’s commitment to environment sustainability. I also like how your laptops are so customizable and repairable. I love the fact that every part can be replaced. This is the way all laptops should be. I hate buying a laptop where I pay for features that I don’t want. Finally, I love how Framework support the Linux Community.
I don’t always need to buy. Similar to Canonical (Linux Ubuntu), The Document Foundation (Libre Office), Wikipedia, etc. Framework could/should set up a Donation link. I believe that would result in a nice little revenue stream for Framework, because people absolutely love Framework’s mission.

Unfortunately, as a for-profit company that has already taken on private investors, taking outright donations (that aren’t then being directly charitably donated to another cause) would almost certainly run them afoul of the law, especially from a taxation standpoint. They would have to create a not-for-profit foundation that is technically (and financially) separate from the for-profit entity and it would have to have it’s own charitable mission to justify that NPO status from a tax perspective.
(*Speaking from not-legal-advice experience as a US business owner. So, take the above within that limited context. Framework is also a US headquartered company and subject to US tax and corporate laws.)
