Dual 2280 SSD reference design -- Manufacturing?

I found this

But there is no … manufacturing options(files)?
This seems like valid (electrically), and the thing should fit.

Do we (or rather, can we) have the design file for this?

My school had invested in a PCB printer suite. I want to test it out.

one of the forum members sells it but I think

I think if you dig around you can find it (iirc I opened it in kicad a couple of months ago) but I don’t know anything about pcb design.

interesting.
I only see the step (mechanical) model for it.

Unless the dxf have integrated pcb layers, I only see the mechanical drawings.
There are also reference KiCad symbols, but they don’t have the electrical.

i think the dxf’s are the pcbs?
You should be able to open the dxfs in most electronic cad softwares I think? (what do I know I do mostly mechanical part design and machining)

.dxf are CAD files. Kicad won’t even open the FW SSD .dxf, I just tried.
AutoCAD DXF - Wikipedia

The DXFs are the sources for the two page PDF in the same directory. The STEP file is a 3D object of the mechanical carrier.

Do check the max z-height diagram. The reference design allows 22110 cards, but no such design will physically fit into the dummy enclosure because of the z-height restrictions.

shortened m.2 standoff :skull:

What about the other end? You’re limited by the m.2 connector options that are available to you.

bend :skull:
the other end should be fine i think (I am joking but I have seen this done before and it is awful

there are options.
You can also go crazy and mid-mount.

I haven’t looked, are mid-mount m.2 connectors available from someone like jlcpcb who does assembly?

youre right, but bending is so much funnier

uhhhh fw uses one on the 16 iirc

There are many parts that FW and other big companies use that aren’t easily available to hobbyists and / or aren’t available for jlcpcb assembly.

yeah ik

yeah JLC indeed does assembly.
hm.
You can probably find it on Mouser, I won’t be surprised. But mid-mount also needs modifying the PCB (cutout), and the expansion shell (get the standoffs)
