I have the 13" Rzyen AI 9 HX 370 with an AOOSTAR AG02 eGPU (over USB) + RX 9070XT on Arch Linux.
Yesterday the eGPU was working perfectly when plugged into one of the back USB ports directly or when connected through my Thunderbolt dock (CalDigit TS5Plus).
Today my bios updated to 3.04, and the eGPU is no longer working in any configuration. It no longer appears in the list of devices from lspci, and I see the following log entry in dmesg when I plug it in:
I’m getting exactly the same error and behavior but for my CalDigit docking station. I thinks it’s to do with the 6.15 kernel (Fedora) because it works fine with Bluefin (6.14 kernel). But, the old kernel suffers from high idle temperature.
I have a CalDigit TS5Plus docking station, and it’s working fine in 6.15.
In fact, I was able to get the eGPU working, but only when connected through the docking station.
As further evidence against the kernel being the culprit, I notice that the indicator light on the front of my eGPU turns on solid during a cold boot when connected through the docking station - before the kernel is even loaded. However, when the eGPU is connected directly into my FW13, it only blinks once or twice before the bootloader, and then it never comes back on and fails to be detected by the kernel.
I see. Mine’s a TS3 Plus. I’ve had various issues involving the docking station that were related to BIOS updates on 7640u and 7840u (link below). Yours could also be related to the BIOS update, like you suspect. If you don’t get much traction here, it might be worthwhile opening a case with support.
