Expansion Card Ideas - Share Your Thoughts

Hello fellow Framework users!

I bet most of us have ideas for new expansion cards, so i created this topic so we can share our thoughts about ideas that hopefully Framework will see (and hopefully add).

I have two ideas:

  1. Sim Card Expansion Card - I bet you can’t guess what this does
  2. Micro SD&SD Card Expansion Card - Two features in one card

Anyways, what have you thought of?

Here are some that I think would be cool if they were officially supported:

  • Dual USB-C
  • Mouse dongle hider
  • UART or TTL
  • Audio module with one jack for headphones and another for microphone
  • Magnetic USB-C charger

Framework said they’ll be releasing one in the April Launch Event video! You can see their version at 31:18 in the video (here’s a link to that timestamp).

There are also some different takes on the ‘dongle hider’ idea Framework Community members have created. The DongleHider+ is one such project you can find in the ‘Expansion card’ section of this thread.

A family of Thing + USB-C, even if the latter ends up being just a charger pass-through.
