Fails to post when thunderbolt egpu plugged in. (Code: 184)

Howdy!

When I have my egpu plugged in, I am unable to boot (looks like this).

If I’m reading this guide correctly, it seems that my post code is 184 (i.e. 10111000 BGBBBGGG). I’m on the latest firmware. Does anyone know what this means?
