I am new to computer stuff
I submitted a ticket, but thought I’d share here to see if I can learn anything else from the community (IN-TICKET]
A couple days ago my Framework 11 fan started running at max intermittently and sometimes steadily for minutes at a time. Even when I turn the system on from cool the fan often goes full blast. CPU’s are usually between 8-15%. Sometimes the fan shoots on for 1 second as well.
The issue started while I had the lap top on a couch surface with some dust on it, so I figured maybe some dust was clogging something up.
To access the fan without messing with the heatsink, I removed the mainboard to access all sides of the fan and cleaned it out with compressed air. Got some lint balls out… : )
However, when I turned the computer on again, the fan is still blasting sporadically. Tips for next steps?
You can find the CPU temperature using HWINFO. However, if the fan is consistently loud dispite CPU is cool, you may find this piece of information useful
The fan goes as loud as I have ever heard it go, like full acceleration lasting 20 seconds to a few minutes, or sporadic blasts between full on and off, or sometimes quiet
@BB_CedarBowss About a week ago my fan also started running for no apparent reason at 30-40C temps (according to NZXT CAM and Core Temp applets) and low (15%) load. Now the fan oscillates between short 1 sec bursts and longer 30 sec on cycles. This can go on for the entire use session or just intermittently. I’d like to know how your experience turned out before I start pulling thermal pads and re-thermo-pasting. What was Framework’s response to your ticket? Did you pursue @Max_Klassen ‘s solution (link from @Charlie_6 )?? Thanks!
