Fan stopped working :(

Hey everyone,

Recently, I noticed that the fan on my Framework 13 12th gen i7 stopped working, and the computer’s performance has worsened due to thermal throttling as a result.

Earlier this week, an idiotic classmate of mine spilled a few drops of water on the screen and keyboard. I was able to wipe it off quickly, but I am still worried that there is some sort of connection there.

Does anyone have any advice about how I should go about fixing this?

If the fan is truly broken, the only thing you can do is to buy a replacement heatsink. Remove the input cover and check if there’s any damage around the fan connector. Also, check that the fan does not spin up under load.

If there is damage around the fan connector, this complicates things and you may need to take it to a repair shop to get the fan connector replaced.
