yes but it would be cool
its a request, not a death threat, and I therefore don’t really expect it to happen

Mentioned elsewhere, but a BIOS update that introduces a “display preference” option, where AMD Framework laptops can direct display output to an external display (not the internal one, as they do now) from power on. I use my FW13 AMD 7840U most of the time in clamshell mode, and being able to restart without having to open it up to enter the LUKS password would be really nice. After six weeks of ownership, that is pretty much the only thing I wish were different.
It would be cool to have the ability to set a customisable message that appears during bootup e.g. “Property of Framework Computer. If found, please contact etc…”
You can put in whatever ssd you like XD
(this is a joke)
FRAMEWORK PLEASE OFFER M.2 HDDS
could you clarify what this feature would be?
if you’re talking about shipping, that would probably be a thing for a general framework feedback thread.
It would be great to have the ability to add Delivery Instructions whilst placing an order.
I think this should go in the support feedback thread rather than the feature request, this is more for requesting stuff like new expansion cards and stuff
Is the FW13 going to keep receiving hardware updates (like new main boards, RGB keyboard, better web-cam and mic module, etc) once the FW16 hype fades?
I know it will keep being supported, but I want to know if there are future plans for the FW13 or if it’s all on the FW16 now.
Anyone have any ideas about where they would like to see future FW13 development go?
Framework has made no statements as to the end of the 13’s development, and I highly doubt they would just stop updating it now that the 16 is here. They also released 2 new Framework Laptop 13 mainboards after announcing the Framework Laptop 16. They have noted that they don’t plan to make a mainboard for it with the Ryzen 8000 chips, but only because there isn’t enough of a performance reason to do so, which I read as “we considered it, but are holding off in anticipation of 9000 series”
Better speakers!
Other than the tinny speakers, this 13" chassis with AMD mainboard will keep me smiling for a few more years. Can’t wait for the next mainboard swap in 2026 (and ordering it in 2025…).
The speakers themselves are actually really good, however Framework doesn’t do any DSP tuning at all, instead keeping the default flat DSP profile, which isn’t suitable for this laptop.
You can see here how to drastically improve the sound on this laptop. I was surprised myself at how significantly the sound improved from such a simple fix. Right now, it requires running software on your laptop, such as EasyEffects, to do the sound processing. However, if Framework did some testing and gave us a more optimal tune to flash at the firmware level, that would be optimal. Alternatively, they could provide more detailed information on the audio codec chip, so the community can go about doing this work themselves.
See here how to improve the sound on your laptop now, with a software solution:

There is a basic overview of each mainboard. The model of the audio codec chip is there. I believe it may be Realtek ALC269 for older boards, I see Realtek ALC285 for the Intel core ultra series 1.
But the datasheet for that audio codec chip is not available.
That’s up to the chip maker.
Unfortunately, too many manufacturers like to do that.
Indeed. It isn’t available but often the verbs are shared between designs. Going to have to sleuth other datasheets unless FW explains the verbs. Here are the verbs to setup the eq Speakers sound quality - #104 by Kieran_Levin It’s not dsp but an x band per channel eq.
I have previously asked FW for the datasheets for the audio chips used. No joy.
It’s not up to FW. They can’t just give them out if the manufacturer doesn’t want them public
it has made updates and will continue to make updates, see the 2.8k display and 2nd gen webcam module.
the framework community realizing there won’t be a 9000 series on mobile (its ‘ryzen ai 3xx’ now )
