This is fantastic… however Fedora 43 Workstation and SilverBlue only use Wayland which doesn’t play well with Citrix… Should 42 also work or does the new Frame 16 rely on a newer kernel (or other)? [I just spent 1 day fighting this…] Fedora 42 still has X11… but Fedora 43 doesn’t.

Yes, it will work on Fedora 42 - but remember, Fedora does not have an LTS release - meaning that you will quickly stop receiving updates.

Alternatively, you can use this:

Additionally, note that Gnome 50 will drop support for x11 altogher. An alternative is to use KDE.

Lastly, consider the Citrix preview of Wayland support:

My understanding is that KDE has/will also drop x11 support entirely as well.

KDE Plasma 6.8 Set to Drop X11 Support Completely

Yup thats the plan - ultimately x11 is going away, and the only real solution is to get programs that support wayland.

a product with paying customers is not going to just leave their customers unsupported

those dudes using still windows xp are making a lifestyle choice

trust the plan

Hi,

a bit late but I only just saw your post.
Gnome might no longer support x11, but KDE does.
Fedora 43 still has the plasma-workspace-x11 rpm in it’s repositories.

Drawback is that the nvidia drivers from rpmfusion also no longer support the x11 so if you want to use the nvidia expansion you are still on your own.

I currently work with citrix every day for my job and it works ok-ish with wayland and kde-plasma. (using the linux ica citrix client)
Dual monitor use however is broken with the ica linux client.
So I use only a single screen for citrix.

Dual monitors work fine in the web based light citrix client in firefox for me.
For some reason dual monitors do not work for my wife using the citrix light web version. Since she has exactly the same setup, I can only conclude that it must be something on the server side as she works for a different company.

Cheers

Thank you! Will try this in a VM first.

Ignore this message, wrong post

Hello everyone, how are you?

I received my FW16 two days ago and have been trying to install a working operating system on it for almost a day.

I tried installing Fedora Cosmic Atomic and am having some problems.

Right after installation, I noticed that:

- The sound wasn’t working (speaker) = Already solved

- The touchpad isn’t working

- My ultra-wide monitor isn’t working at its maximum resolution

Has anyone else had these kinds of problems?

See you later
