Motivation
Framework Laptop 12 doesn’t come with a fingerprint reader like the other models.
This project was inspired by:
It may be of interest to users of Framework Desktop as well, but this has not been tested.

Chipsailing CS971 fingerprint reader - 11€ (AliExpress )
USB-A to USB-C adapter - 4€ (Ebay )
These components are widely available from other sellers.
Failed attempts
Seven failed attempts and two broken fingerprint readers. (If it isn’t obvious, this is my first attempt at 3D printing )

It works! Regarding the case, I’m really glad that I spent a few more rounds to get the base shorter than the rubber feet so that the laptop is level when placed on a table and doesn’t slide around. Regarding the chip, I hope it will be supported by the official version at some point but the fork works perfectly fine for now! Have fun

Has anybody tried this with Linux? Looking for a solution for my Framework desktop and I’m running Bazzite right now.
It works on linux, you may need to install a custom fprint that supports the fingerprint device.
