Framework 13 (13th gen) Fedora 38 XFCE spin
Hi Matt,
Coming out the woodwork too here! Willing to contribute.
Cheers for the recent activity on this thread - stumbled by a while back and there was nada so left it for a while. I bet my hat thereās more of us out there!..
Willing to test as noted here and in the open support ticket:
Framework 13 (DIY - 13th gen)
Fedora 38
No update to firmware
You have many additional details in the still open support ticket you were communicating with me on.
Happy to test. Ubuntu 23.04 on 13th gen Intel. I have already updated the fingerprint firmware via Windows 11 in a VM.
Framework 13, feel free to contact me. Iāve got a recently installed system and I didnāt try and fix it so its clean. Iām running Ubuntu 22.04 with KDE on top.
Iāve been a sysadmin/programmer/SRE for 30+ years. Iāll give you complete feedback.
framwork 13th gen, fedora 38
Iām happy to help test
Running Fedora 6.4.4, please contact me for additional information!
Happy to test.
Framework 13 (13th gen)
Currently Fedora, but happy to swap to Ubuntu if needed.
Iām willing as well, Iām running intel 13th gen Ubuntu 22.04.2
I set my Framework Laptop 13 (13th Gen Intel) with Ubuntu 22.04 today and attempted to set up the fingerprint reader, but it said it āCouldnāt claimā it.
Iāve searched for a while now and even installed a driver or two I thought would work, but nothing made any difference.
Iāve read that it is compatible, isnāt compatible, and I donāt know which one is right. Is it supported or not?
Iām also open to switching my distro, if itās supported on another.
Are you dual booting? If so, only one OS can claim the fingerprint sensor.
If not, itās a known issue thatās currently being worked on.
This is a known issue due to the vendor updating firmware.
See: Fingerprint reader failing to register on 13th gen - #95 by Isaac_Trefz
From what Iām seeing, they are actively testing a fix now.
Iām not dual booting. I guess Iāll just do without the feature for the time being and wait for a fix. Thanks to both of you!
Iām also happy to test if you need any more people.
13th gen i5, Fedora 38
Weird request, however, can all who are interested in helping indicate if theyāve ever run Windows on their 13th gen - we ask this as there are considerations here. Just update your existing posts in this thread with this detail
Ran Windows at one time - Yes/No
If unable to edit previous post, examples below are just fine.
I havenāt reported this before, but Iām also seeing this same issue. To answer the question;
Ran Windows at one time - No
Running 13th Gen i5, Linux Mint 21.2
