Hi,
I received my laptop 4 days ago. It’s equipped with a Ryzen 7840U, and I purchased RAM (Kingston Fury 2x32GB DDR5 5600MT/s CL40) and an SSD (WD_BLACK SN850X) separately.
When I first received the laptop, I tried to power it on without RAM and SSD. The power button’s light turned on, and i held the power button for 5 seconds to turn it off. Then plugged in the official charger and left the laptop to charge for about 2 hours.
Two days later, I received the RAM and SSD. After installing both components, I tried to power on the laptop, but nothing happened. I disconnected the internal battery for 1 hour, reconnected it, and the laptop booted successfully.
However, the issue is that when I plug in the official charger, the side LED turns orange, and the laptop does not charge. I tried disconnecting the internal battery again to reset the BIOS, but it didn’t solve the problem. I also tested the second USB-C expansion card in a different slot, used a different cable, and even tried another charger (65W and a MacBook Air charger). In all cases, the behavior is the same: the side LED turns orange, and the laptop does not charge.
When I boot into Fedora and then power off the laptop with the charger connected, the side LED blinks blue, green and red before returning to orange. (I’m not sure for the pattern)
In the BIOS, I enabled the “Power On When AC is Connected” option, but the laptop does not power on when I plug in the charger.
Additionally, the battery seems to be draining even when the laptop is off. For example, it was at 51% when I powered it off last night, but this morning it was at 26%. I only used the laptop for about 30 minutes yesterday to install Fedora, and the fans didn’t turn on, so the CPU wasn’t under heavy load.
I also tried leaving the laptop plugged in to charge overnight, but the battery level dropped from 45% to 30%. I suspect this might be related to the orange LED (?)
Do you have an idea ?
Thanks for your advices
