I have recently purchased the Framework 13 AI 300 350 DIY edition.
I have used Ubuntu since 2007 and thought I would have a change and so installed Fedora. Unfortunately the touch pad kept freezing in FireFox so I uninstalled FireFox and reinstalled it.
Still freezes so I uninstalled it again but cannot get it to reinstall. The touch Pad freezes in general use.
So I decided to install Ubuntu however I cannot get the Laptop to boot from a Boot USB. It keeps booting from the SSD and I cant seem to change the boot order in UEFI
Next step I thought would be to reformat the SSD however I can’t seem to format the SSD.
Any help would be appreciated. Bear in mind I am an 80 year old novice although I have built a couple of computers in my time.
When the machine boots, “spamming” the f12 key gets you to a boot option screen where you can select to boot it from an USB.
Also its a brand new platform, there will be quirks with linux for some time before the drivers etc are worked out. I would suspect you will have a better time with ubuntu as it has much more older packages.
Woo Hoo Thankyou! All worrking with Ubuntu LTS now. So far no sign of freezing.
Just one quirk. I had used F12 key before but had my thumb drive inserted and it didn’t show up on the list. This time in my eagerness I forgot to insert the thumb drive. When the boot screen showed I inserted the thumb drive and there it came up on the list. Maybe it was lagging and I was too quick to dismiss it previously, who knows. Thanks very much for your help
