Framework 13 AMD often shuts down/crashes when I close the lid for sleep Windows 11 (Event 41 - Kernel Power)

Hi Community,

I have been experiencing severe and recurring crashes when I close the lid of my laptop and let it sleep.

I tried updating all drivers and BIOS and still the problem persists, even after updating windows 11 updates I still face this. I am sharing windows event viewer logs and screenshots for your reference. This issue is really debilitating and preventing me from getting my work done. Any clues or fixes the community has found would be greatly appreciated!

The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

My laptop seems to freeze sometimes coming out of sleep, on Linux. From reading up on this issue it seems to be a problem with the M.2 SSD. I think I’m using one from crucial.

There are multiple posts on this forum and elsewhere about this issue. All mainly just saying to turn off fast startup and make sure drivers are up to date. I believe there may be something else at play.

Is there any difference in these cases:

Don’t close the lid.

  1. PSU plugged and then “suspend” laptop using the menus. Then use the power button to wake it.

  2. PSU unplugged and then “suspend” laptop using the menus. Then use the power button to wake it. Leaving the PSU unplugged.

Do either of those reproduce the problem, or is it just the lid closing that reproduces the problem?

Hi there,

I’ve been experiencing the exact same issue but with the ryzen ai 5 340 cpu. Did you ever figure out what was causing the problem or fixed it?
