Framework 13 (AMD Ryzen 5) – Display shows vertical lines and distortion

Hi everyone,

I’m using a Framework 13 (AMD Ryzen 5) laptop and recently started having issues with the internal display. I’ve attached a picture (and can also share a short video) to show the problem.

Symptoms:

  • The screen shows vertical colored lines and distortions.

  • The issue is limited to a certain area of the display.

  • When I apply light pressure to the bottom edge of the screen, the lines change or sometimes partially disappear.

  • External monitors work fine, so the GPU/mainboard seems unaffected.

Questions:

  1. Does this look more like a faulty eDP cable/connection, or a damaged LCD panel?

  2. Would it make sense to try reseating or replacing the display cable first, or should I go straight for a display module replacement?

  3. Any troubleshooting tips before I reach out directly to Framework Support?

The laptop is still fairly new, so I’m also considering filing a support request if this points to a defective panel.

Atleast check the connection cables because that is the first question that support is going to ask you to do anyway :slight_smile:
