Hi, I am guessing it is more an Hardware issue, but I am using debian, therefore I am seeking for help here. If this is wrong, please pardon me.
I got a Framework Laptop from a private seller from Ebay. Seller claims the device was working perfectly. Also packaging was really good.
I disconnected and reconnected both display wires, from the Mainboard.
But I don’t know if this is a failure of
- the Mainboard
- the Display
- the wires
- the firmware
I can’t explain this, please have a look at the pictures.
eBay’s buyer protection should have you covered… open a claim with eBay and return it.
You might be able to ask for compensation for a new display but you’ll probably have an easier time just returning it.
Howdy @Daniel_Berthold!
Sorry to say that I agree you should probably engage eBay buyer protections. I can’t say with 100% certainty, but that looks like damage that is likely cable or board level. Typically damage that’s going to break the display panel directly is more likely to manifest with visible cracks where the backlight is bleeding through, or similar. I’m really sorry to hear about this situation and I wish you the best of luck in getting things made right.
Thank you for the feedback.
I already contacted the seller directly, also requested a return/refund, but it was a purchase from a private seller, so my chances are not so good.
As a Plan B I would like to investigate the problem a bit more.
Is there a way to test all parts from the bios/uefi/firmware level, like hardware diagnostics stuff?
