Framework 13 Fan Clearance for Cooling

How much fan clearance is built into the case?

How much fan clearance is advisable for good cooling?

How many holes and where is advisable? The coolermaster case hole locations seemed odd to me.

When I say clearance I mean the vertical distance from the board to any blocking case plane.

I am using a AI 5 340 board in DIY form. I’d intended to use an Anker power brick with pass-through for the battery but discovered it can’t switch from charging to not charging w/o momentarily turning off. Now I’m looking at a different way to put the framework battery in the case, either flat, or folded back under the main board. The answer depends on how the fan is designed to cool the board which I have not seen much discussion of.

this other thread seems like the closest I might get to an answer: How does the laptop airflow/cooling work? - #10 by Peter_K

ie conclusion it is not really pulling across the memory or other M/B ports, and any holes I give are likely going to be less restrictive than whatever the laptop configuration allows.

and this: Laptop pulls fresh air from bottom and pushes hot air out the bottom back per https://community.frame.work/t/external-cooling-accessories/583/16

operating as a DIY board in open air with the heat sink exit pointed up and both sides of the fan exposed the temps jump from 34 C to 77 C as soon as significant GPU load is applied and drop back to 34 C when the load is removed.
