Framework 16 died while playing game (stellaris)

I have a framework 16 with a Ryzen™ 9 7940HS and no dgpu and was playing stellaris on fedora 41.
Suddenly the device just turned off and doesn’t turn on anymore not even the charging light lights up with the powersupply anymore i tried to disconnect the battery but to no effect anyone have an idea or is RMA the only way here?

Does it give you any prompts if you take out the memory modules and/or SSD? I had a similar issue with a different machine and turned out to be a bad memory stick…not sure if it’s the same issue in your case.

PS: you should still reach out to support to log your issue.

I think you should be contacting support regardless. So the 16 died in the middle of playing Stellaris? This would imply that the system was under a heavy load at the time, and heat was a factor.

If it is heat related, have you tried turning it on after allowing the ambient temperature time to cool components? Seems like a moot point because surely you have.

In this case it sounds like you have a problem on the power rail. Get with support. This is probably going to require their efforts.

yeah already send a email to support question do they have multiple support centers for different languages like german or are they all in US time?

the only suspicous thing i could see when i opened it was that there was some greasy looking stuff that looked like it came from the thermal pad of the nvme ssd(stock thermal pad) and looked like it ran to the nvme socket dunno if that stuff is conducting.

That could be it, and I am assuming that this was not a NVME bought from the Framework, or is using an aftermarket heatpad. Make sure you explain that in the ticket. You are within the warranty period and so you should be good.

As for where the support folks are, I can’t say, as I have no idea. I just know that they are the ones that can help in this situation.

Have you tried cleaning that off and allowing the board to dry?

no both the nvme and the heatpad came with the laptop i just had to readjust the headpad because it was blocking the cover plate from properly sitting down when i was first assembling it otherwise completly stock

Hi.
A failure like that does point to some sort of hardware failure.
I would remove everything, wifi card, nvme ssds, RAM, battery, all slot cards except the one to attach the Power to, the display cable, webcam cable etc.
Then see if you can get to at least the flashing LED fault patterns.
If you don’t even get to a flashing LED fault pattern, the mainboard has failed.

yeah no disconnected pretty much everything (easily accessable) (didn’t closeup the case trough so maybe intrusion detection) no reaction at all trough

The LED lights should still flash with the mid-plate removed if the main board was ok.

yeah no nothing its dead
