I always have to manually put it to sleep as it still runs when I close it, even if I have games or browsers closed. It actually cooks itself up in my backpack while on campus and is probably damaging itself. I’ve taken it out of the backpack and sleeve to find it hot as a stovetop at Thanksgiving!
I got the laptop new from Framework, prebuilt, and with Windows 11 installed.
Also, the same programs I daily use on this laptop I also daily used on my previous non-Framework laptops and they slept when closed just fine.
Look up or Google how to turn on Hibernation in Windows 11. It is disabled by default. Then change the actions when you press the power button or close the lid to Hibernate the laptop. It is well known that the “sleep” function does not work well no thanks to Microsoft’s “modern standby”.
The machine is still ready to operate in a matter of seconds after pressing the power button. This will also help keep the battery from draining itself in the sleep mode. When the machine is hibernating, the whole device is powered off.
