Framework 16 forgets SSD in Dual M.2 Adapter after switching back to Windows from Fedora via dual-boot

Sorry for the short delay. I was wrestling with the EFI settings. The laptop kept trying to boot to the expansion bay drive which made me keep getting the blue automatic repair screen. Had to go into the BIOS to tell it to look at the windows 11 drive and change the order of the drive boot list. I had it set to Auto prior to installing Ubuntu and a few days it kept acting up and trying to load the third drive as previously stated. All of that has been fixed. That and there are a lot of network issues I’m having issues with.

Now back to the main issue. I went back to BIOS 4.03, booted into the Ubuntu drive, did a sudo apt update command just for fun, and then I hit reboot. The issue is back.

Now everytime I try to fix the issue with installing the bios, there is a now an additional step i have to take when i do so which is going into the bios and turning off the expansion bay drive from the boot order list. If i dont the laptop will try to boot from that drive which obviously has no os on it and will go into automatic repair. Could someone explain to me the Auto, First, and Last setting in the New Boot device Priority? I get half of the Auto which doesn’t let me change the order of the boost list but not sure about the other half of it as to how it determines which drive to boot from. Before I had it set to Auto and the laptop knows already to boot the Windows drive. For some reason the Auto now wants to boot off of the expansion bay drive. A little clarification about this setting would be a huge help in understanding how it works.

Have you ever tried it? I have my copy of Linux quite happily reading and writing NTFS drives.

Linux has had an NTFS driver for something like 20 years.

Well, that shows how out of touch you are with the drivers. ntfs-3g has been embedded in the Linux kernel for like forever, certainly before Framework started shipping laptops. ntfs-3g does both read and write of NTFS partitions.

I googled it up and got answer and it said then that linux has this to support NTFS but apparently some linux may not have it so it depends on kernel they use.
