I’d really like a brighter display for the Framework 16. Despite the fact that the display has 100% DCI-P3 coverage, the colors feel washed out when touching grass. From my limited experience working with computer Graphics, I do know that brightness and contrast go hand in hand with color perception. I think a 1000 nit panel would be a killer feature (even if it eats through the battery). I have no idea how feasible this is given that Framework is a smaller company and the display does need to fit with the existing design (more or less).
I think 500 nits is fine. Ironically, if you can find a 4-lane eDP screen, its most likely a drop-in replacement. Get someone to make cable for you, easy.
Ironically, i want a DIMMER display. even at minimum it can be a bit too bright. And this is before you turn off the lights.
From the display manufacturer, you can play around with the PWM of the backlight. A lot of them specify 10% as minimum, but a lot of manufacturers let you go down to 5% or 2%. The circuit is not super stable at low PWM values, so your display might have a slight flicker,
I should read the thing. I have the stolen sheet, after all.
