Framework 16 needs a Brighter display

I’d really like a brighter display for the Framework 16. Despite the fact that the display has 100% DCI-P3 coverage, the colors feel washed out when touching grass. From my limited experience working with computer Graphics, I do know that brightness and contrast go hand in hand with color perception. I think a 1000 nit panel would be a killer feature (even if it eats through the battery). I have no idea how feasible this is given that Framework is a smaller company and the display does need to fit with the existing design (more or less).

Edit:
I did some googling and here is some of the relevant color theory:

Hi, Parth,

Can you elaborate on what “colors feel washed out when touching grass” (emphasis added) means?

–Dave

probably meant outside view.

I think 500 nits is fine. Ironically, if you can find a 4-lane eDP screen, its most likely a drop-in replacement. Get someone to make cable for you, easy.

Ironically, i want a DIMMER display. even at minimum it can be a bit too bright. And this is before you turn off the lights.

I was talking about color perception in high brightness environments (like the outdoors).

I think more range on the brightness is advantageous to improving viewing in a wider array of environments.

I’d also love to see a transreflective display that actually uses less battery and becomes easier to read in the daylight. Those are cool.
