Which OS (Operating System)? Windows 11/Kubuntu 22.04 [each on its own MVNE drive]
Which Framework laptop (11th, 12th or 13th generation Framework laptop, Chromebook or Framework Laptop 16) are you asking for support with? Framework16
Downloaded and ran the Windows BIOS 3.05 update. The update downloaded some stuff and then started a reboot. On reboot, after the initial checks the screen went blank, and it’s been sitting there for more than an hour. The LED around the power button is on, and I can occasionally hear the fan running. Is there anything I can do other than force a powerdown and hope for the best?
The process still hangs at a blank screen on the reboot to update the BIOS. Since posting this I managed to get the updater to run, but it gave an error about decompression failing. I’ve also tried to update using EFI shell, and that also failed with a decompression error.
After looking around the system, I noticed that the EFI partition is 71% full. I haven’t had time to research what to do yet.
I haven’t been able to boot into Windows since the 2024H2 version came out, I just get stuck on the blank screen. Please, let me know if you figure out how to make it work without reinstalling
Sorry, I don’t think I’ll be much help for you. My issue isn’t caused by a Windows update, but by trying to update to the latest BIOS release. If I’m not in the middle of trying to update the BIOS, the system boots into either Windows or Kubuntu just fine. In fact, I’m using it now. You might want to try contacting Framework support, since Windows 11 is one of the officially supported OSes.
