Getting this thread started a bit early.
“a bit early” is a bit of an understatement.
Meh. I’m in Batch 12, so this would be kind of an Early Early Warning System for me.
AI MAX 385 Board only order here. Here’s to hoping batch 11 will ship in Q3!
I ordered a 3rd party case, SSDs and a nice PSU. I’m ready!
I plan to use this PC for gaming (1080p resolutions) and occasional internet browsing.
Looking forward to seeing your reporting on your 385. Aside from one comment from @Destroya on reddit (I think), I haven’t seen anything about the Desktop 385. If that board came with 64 gb of ram, I probably would have preferred that one. Instead, I went for the 395/64.
Exactly. Someone just got around to creating the 10 guild, so I’m watching it for the same reason.
you remember that correctly, my unit is Max 385! I’ve been using it for light gaming and streaming (mostly Netflix and Youtube) for months now and I love it so much!
The 32GB RAM capacity was my only concern - but, I think it will do fine for 1080p gaming, now and in some years to come. I plan to divide the memory 16GB for system and 16 for VRAM. I will report back once I put this baby together!
Wish they could give us some updates on timelines. I pre-ordered one for my birthday and I really want to work on all the projects I have planned for the framework desktop. I hope I can get mine before Silk Song is released lmao.
395/128 board. Already have a case, psu, and storage ready so hoping it’s not too long of a wait.
Silksong is going to launch on September 4, so this won’t work out. ![]()
Yeah… guess that’s what i get for making a bad joke. I knew Silksong was gonna come out this year, but I really didn’t think it would be so soon.
Hello Folks,
I am wondering if anybody tracked the time for sending shipping notifications between the two batches. So far, I do not know which batches have already been shipped. I just want to know your guess for the shipping time for batch 11. Do you think between batches we will have the same time delays? Hope that as time passes, the speed will be accelerated, and maybe some batches will be in parallel. By the way, batch 11 was supposed to be shipped in Q3, right?
From my observation they have shipped 2 batches in the last 2 weeks. So, I think most of batch 2 will be received in the next few days as batch 3 goes out. Im in batch 7 so the current cadence puts me in the second half of September.
While upgrading my cpu cooler, I managed to pull the CPU out with just suction from my Noctua cooler and paste. This caused 3 bent pins, and my attempt to repair them ended up completely killing my motherboard. In the 2 years I have been building PCs, I have never had that sort of issue and it sucked.
So I lived on docked steam deck for a while, and then decided to grab this when it was announced. Because $2,000 USD was cheaper than any AM5 system I was going to put together. Flash forward 6 months, and I got a wind fall inheritance from a great aunt that was flat evil and I had no relationship with. I did build myself a desktop (mini ITX in full tower case), and upgraded my per-order to Ryzen™ AI Max+ 395 - 64GB dropping from batch 7 to 11.
Once I get my pre-order I am going to drag race it vs the two 7800’s I have (7800 XT and 7800X3D), whoever wins gets to be my desktop. The looser gets put in the full tower case and replaces my old home domain / NAS server. The other one gets left in its case (if framework is the winner), or put in an ITX case.
Current Build:
Patiently awaiting my batch 11 desktop - fully loaded 395 w/ 128GB. Goin to drop in two 4TB SSD’s. Windows on one w/ Linux on the other. Goin to utilize this machine for local AI (Will be taking Coursera classes to learn at my own pace). Will also play games with it too. Excited to compare to my personal built Fractal Terra AMD 7600X; RTX 4060; Two individual 1TB SSDs with 32GB 5000 ram. My daughters will be getting my Fractal Terra system if the new framework proves its value to my goals. lol.
395/128 Desktop. Not so patiently waiting. Def looking into the Noctua 3D printed cooling side panel upgrade stuffclosely.
I printed out the side panel in PLA and it came out pretty nice. I think it probably looks better than the default, but I will withhold my any final opinion until I actually have a Framework Desktop to put it on lol. Think I am going to print it again and make the layer height a bit lower as the tabs seem a bit off. (I used .2mm layer height) I tried to print the fan funnel thing in ASA and it came out terrible. Pretty sure I messed up the settings for ASA and/or I need to dry out my ASA. I suspect I would probably be fine to just print it all in PLA, but I have some ASA lying around that I need to justify having paid for.
Nice! Any chance you could show some pictures of your print? I’m curious to get a side-panel printed too after I get my unit
Sure, I do not normally take photos of anything so this is a bit new to me lol.
I have provided a sharpie for scale, maybe I need an LTT banana.. This was printed on a Bambu Labs X1 Carbon with Bambu branded basic black PLA using all default settings and the filament is probably needs a bit of drying as it’s sat around for many months. I ran out of PLA on the spool when it was like 80 or 85% finished and had to add a new spool. I think that’s why there is some streaking on the back. Overall I am quite happy with the textured look of the panel from the textured PEI printing plate. Perhaps some of the other textured printing plates may provider a more satisfying finish?
I believe that I have used the wrong settings which has resulted in the tabs being a little malformed but cannot even test it until my desktop arrives.
