Batch 8 is a way off however, no time like the present to start this thread.
I’ve ordered a 128GB desktop which I plan to use throughout my PhD for research, experimentation, writing, agonizing etc.

Same! Ordered 128 GB will use mostly for LLMs around the house. Will maybe game on it a bit, but only play a few games.
hesitation got me into batch 8.
I still have no clear idea what I’ll use desktop for.
Probably any of:
As my current workplace is not very mobile, with all the screens. It wil probably mostly replace the FW13, which will find another use around the house.
As my excitement is rising every day, my patience is running thinner and thinner. But soon the day will come I will enjoy this glorious machine
Hi,
I also ordered the 128 GB model.
Like probably most of us: Programming, gaming, local LLMs; plus running own scientific simulations.
Looking forward to the day when it actually arrives here
Can’t wait to get my hands on my framework desktop 128GB.
It’s going to be used as my home server hosting apps and running LLMs.
I am curious how it will perform against my Threadripper X2950. Benchmarks suggest approx. double speed (https://www.cpu-monkey.com/de/compare_cpu-amd_ryzen_threadripper_2950x-vs-amd_ryzen_ai_max_plus_395). Has anyone already run “real-life” tests?
I’m batch 8 and was told early Q3 but that’s passed so I’ve come to check in and I am floored they are still finishing batch 4.
It was communicated way back that they are little bit late on the schedule. But its churning on nicely. Batch 5 is already being processed.
As much as I want my new FW PC soon, Good work takes times, i’dd rather it takes a few weeks extra then that i get a half backed product. Let them cook
I’ve just pulled out of Batch 8 because of the number of design and quality issues, not to mention some of the low performance numbers. I’m now in a ‘wait and see’ Batch 14 but not 100% committed
Could you share what you mean by quality issues and low performance numbers? It doesn’t mean I disagree, I am just intrigued as I am in batch 13 so have plenty of time to change my mind if there are any deal breakers.
Canceled my Batch 8 today too. The LLM s are not looking as good as I had hoped. No ollama support. I will revisit this in 6 or so months.
Seems like it supports ollama https://www.phoronix.com/news/ollama-0.6.2
But from my understanding ROCm needs to be doing better. Vulkan compute is there and working but has numerical stability issues causing output corruption (repeating “GGGG…”).
Please keep cancelling guys, I’m struggling to wait for my batch 12 machine!! :”D
There are two quality issues in particular which you can read about in these threads:
There are many threads talking about performanc with AI, ROCm, and other software:
Design (and firmware) issues relate primarily to eGPU support and a lack of rear access to the PCIe slot:
And, of course, the handle
These are some of the contributors to my decision
The best thing about the Desktop experience so far, given I don’t yet have one, has been the community. People on this forum are amazing!
Thanks a lot! That’s some useful info. Seems it’s PSU and AI related. You concern does make sense, I’ll have a think if it’s the right fit for me too. The PSU stuff doesn’t worry me as much as I’ll be using the board with my own SFX PSU, but I do need to think more about the graphics side.
Got my batch 8 prep email about 20 minutes ago.
Woohoo! Batch 8 and Batch 7 getting going on the same day!
Maybe this might mean batch 9 and 10 gets the same treatment?
