FW 13 11th Gen - Will not POST with battery removed

I’ve got an original Framework 13 Laptop from one of the pre-order batches (11th gen). Recently the battery swelled up and had to be removed for safety. While I wait for a replacement I’ve been unable to get the thing to POST when connected to power.

  • It has the firmware upgrade from last summer and I used the Battery Disconnect setting before removing the battery.
  • I went through the CMOS reset procedure already and Framework Support have no idea why it won’t work.
  • I do not get the red/orange blinkenlights at power on. All I get it the white power connected LED flash once.

I hooked up to a 140w USB-PD power supply through a USB-C power meter that I have. At standby it’s requesting 20V and pulling 0A as expected. When I press the power button the current briefly jumps and then the USB connection resets. This coincides with the white indicator light blinking off and on once before returning to steady white. Unfortunately my power meter doesn’t let me see the peak current draw before the reset, so it could be completely within normal parameters. I’ve read it can draw up to 100w. If the USB normally briefly disconnects during power-up that would mean it’s impossible to boot without a battery, but I’ve been unable to find anyone else encountering this issue so that also seems unlikely.

Looking for diagnostic recommendations or fixes to try while I wait for a replacement battery. Thanks.

Nope. That’s essentially what FW supoort had me try. There’s no POST so no POST codes to read and no way to access the BIOS.
